On our Handmade jewelry collection we have a great selection of
natural seed beads jewelry. So I want to explain a bit about were we receive it from what is there, Thai name and English name (if they have one).
First, all the seed that we have in our collection is growing In Thailand.
As we like to buy all our material from there real source, we go to the country side and found the farmers that have those seed beads in there farm and want to sell it for us instead of let those seed beads rat on the flour or just go to the garbage.
And that way we help them with a little extra income (one of the farmers sold for us 1000 KG. of red seeds in one year so it is not small :) ).
The seed that we work with the most is
The Red Sandlewood Seed or
Saga Seed (in Thai they call is
"Med Ma-Glam Ta Chang" (Elephant's Eye) ). It is grown in tropical areas only so you can find it in south east Asia or in South America . In South America they call
"Tento Seed" or
"ChoCho seed".

In northeast of Thailand people eat the seed as a Peanut and also make necklaces from the seeds for good luck.
Another seed that is
Abrus precatorius or know as
Jequirity or
Crab's Eye, red mix with Black is been used for make many of our jewelry. The Name of this seed in Thailand is
"Med Ma-Glum Ta Nhoo" or
"Ta Dam Ta Dang" (black eye red eye). It is know for his bright red and black colors and grown in north east Thailand.

More seed that we use is Called
"Med Ma-Kham" (Tamarind seed). It is grown In every part of Thailand and also been eaten as a fried peanut. We make necklaces and bracelets from it. Many Thai friends and customers like to buy them just because they like
the idea of making a jewelry from this seed.
